Beginning American Belly Dance

American Belly Dance is a unique form that has its roots in classical Middle Eastern dance. In the journey west, it has blended many movements from our culture and is still developing as a truly modern dance. This class presents basic elements to create short combinations. Undulations, isolations, and traveling steps are covered, along with how to seamlessly transition between them. All ages, body types and levels of experience are welcome. Beginners come to learn in a supporting and non-competitive environment.

Beyond the Basics

A class for students who have a solid knowledge of the basic movements of Belly Dance, we will explore interpretation, improvisation, and express different elements and rhythm changes. Movement vocabulary increases through use of shimmies, figure eights and veil work. Challenging combinations and several theme music is presented. This class is perfect for the student who is thinking about performing or just wants a deeper understanding of the dance and culture.

Hatha Yoga

A mixed level drop in class for all levels and experiences. We will focus on Sun Salutations, basic standing and seated postures, pranayama and restorative. Influenced by the Iyengar model, modifications and personal attention will be given to every body type. Whatever your reason for practice, there's something for everyone in this gentle but strengthening class.

Shimmy Madness

Shimmy Madness is a come one come all free flow dance party. Shake what your momma gave ya. Shake your moneymaker. Shake it don't break it. You can do all of this and more at Shimmy Madness. This one hour aerobic workout uses basic belly dance movements and introduces all of the shimmies. Get the runner's high without all that boring running. It's fun, it's challenging, and it's great exercise.
