“Giving gifts for Hanukkah wasn’t a Jewish tradition until the youngest Schlemiel, Shmeenie asked for a Christmas present,” explained author Mark Binder. “Her father, of course explained that Jews didn’t give Christmas presents. So, she asked for a Hanukkah present. Once the Schlemiels bought the idea, it was only a matter of time for it to spread from Chelm to the rest of the world.”
